General Rules
While we strive to have a fun and engaging time while role-playing at Carpe Noctum, there are some basic rules that must be adhered to by the player.
No Touching
While we are a game rooted in a fantasy world, we are still people and have boundaries. Before you touch anyone in any way make sure you have permission.
No Weapons
This not that kind of LARP, where you run around with fake swords and hit one another. There are rules in place to know who hits who and how to resolve things like combat. Please do not bring real weapons.
No Drugs or Alcohol
Whether or not it is legal, our game sites do not always allow people to bring alcohol, be under the influence of alcohol, bring legal paraphernalia, or be under the influence of whatever is legal. If alcohol or other things are allowed at a game site, they will be announced. If you bring these to a game site without permission you will be asked to leave, and potentially banned. Respect where you play.
Leave "Real World" at the Door
We all know what's going on in the world. If it's not a political issue, then it's a human rights issue, or a war, or a pandemic. Many times these are hot button issues. We play this game to escape reality, not bring reality with us. Real world issues, unless explicit permission is given by OWBN, are not to be brought into our fantasy.
Respect Individual's Boundaries
Yes this is the World of Darkness and we play monsters who hunt in the night. Sometimes, bad things happen. However, some people are not comfortable with certain topics. If you are in a scene with an individual and they request to not be involved in a discussion on a topic that makes them uncomfortable, do not force the issue upon them. Sometimes lines are blurred between what's in-character and what's out-of-character. If you are unsure, ask, and clarify before proceeding. Before engaging in discussions about sensitive topics such as rape, incest, murder, abortion, racism, etc. make sure all of those involved are comfortable with discussing the topic in-character.
Don't be an Asshole
This is a game where your characters are always plotting and trying to take out the competition somehow. Being an asshole as a character is one thing, but taking it out-of-character and making players feel uncomfortable because of your actions as a real life person is another story entirely. We may not all be friends, but we are all here to have fun and enjoy the evening. Don't ruin it for others.
